AeroGarden - Grow Herbs and Flowering Plants in Your Kitchen or Office!
Aerogarden, the name must not be unfamiliar to many of you who may have seen these cute-looking miniature garden units that boast of growing plenty of varieties or herbs and plants without much maintenance! For those of you who may not have heard of these, Aerogardens literally bring your garden into your office, kitchen or any other space you want to make green. Last year, they had introduced their first edition mainly for herbs and greens, but at a price label of $150, it was still out of reach for the general mass. But due to growing popularity and demand, they have launched a revamped version which grows not only herbs, but other decorative flowering plants as well, and has the added benefit of a price cut!!
So what is an AeroGarden? Well, its basically a NASA-tested aeroponic technology that grows plants in water, nutrients and air – so simply and easily that anyone can succeed. With the starter kit, you can choose from over 50 different seed kits, from fresh herb varieties to cherry tomatoes, salad greens, chili peppers, lettuce, mint and now even flowering varieties like petunias! Fully automated garden with built-in grow lights, no dirt, no weeds, no mess and requiring no special care except following instructions, this is like a dream-come-true for garden-lovers! AeroGarden is truly a boon for cooks like me who love to use fresh herbs and vegetables in their cooking but do not have the luxury of having a huge garden space to grow them. Some of its interesting features are:
- Available in black, white or silver-colored models
- The AeroGarden unit, 2 daylight-spectrum bulbs, preseeded bio-dome grow pod, time-release nutrients, and tending and harvesting guide with recipes
- Self-monitoring system that adjusts for best growing conditions
- Automatic alert system that notifies when more water or nutrients are needed
- Organic-based, 100% natural tool requires no dirt or natural light; grows 5 times faster than soil
The best part is this - they have recently launched "The $99 AeroGarden-3" which targets an entirely new category with an increased focus on flowers and home decor; For the first time, anyone can grow a beautiful, blooming flower garden right inside their home, office or kitchen, any time of year. This also includes more than 40 new herb, vegetable and flower seed kits, including exotic plants like Purple Basil and Mini Roses and Japanese Herbs! To know more about this, check Aerogarden-How it Works section and find out for yourself. .
Here are some more interesting Aerogarden Reviews, and from what I read, it looks like a really cool and efficient way to grow germ-free and healthy plants right insode your home! And with the new price cut, its more affordable too. I am seriously considering of buying one, and if anyone has used it before, please share your opinions with our readers. Hope it intrigues some of you too - after all, who doesn't love home-grown organic plants and herbs, right?!!

I have the Pro100 as does my daughter. Best cash I spent all winter. No more nasty basil that wilts from the market. Fresh, no chemicals, just wonderful.
Thanks for the details....... I like plants......Thanks once again.
Its the most astonishing thing ever! and works perfect! I just love how fresh the herbs look and smell...its my best investment so far:) I'd strongly recommend it!

Thanks people! that surely convinced me to buy it, but I'm sure it cleared the air for others too who were in two minds:)
looks chic, Mansi! Never heard of it though. As a told before you are a walking encyclopaedia, yes!
Whenever the commercial comes on tv I wonder if it really works...now I guess I'm almost convinced :)
Mansi,
this post is a cross between food and gadgets :)
Interesting concept...i remember buying some hydropoenic herbs from publics markets in US, grown in water...no soil, so fresh and clean, probably a similar techonology!
Namratha - yeah, that's how I started researcing it too:) but now we both know it works:)
Ben - glad to make an addition to your wishlist:)
Nandita - yeah, I take liberty to write whatever works for me, right?:) hehehe...actually, this did become popular as a kitchen garden contraption!:) and I'm really impressed by the technology!
a couple of weeks ago i put in some water compatible decorative plants with a lot of skepticism....i am so thrilled that they are thriving.....now this is good info...i wonder if i will be able to repeat the success with herbs....mint is generally very forgiving right??
I've been thinking about getting the aerogarden but was a lil weary since I have a brown thumb...as in plans die because I water them too much or dont water them at all. But I think this would be a good way to change that around :o)
Hey Manasi thats such a wonderful information. True i hv never come across this.. where i can i find more information reagrding this?
That looks pretty interesting. I have pots of herbs and a few things outside, but its always a coin toss if I screw things up and lose the plant. This might be foolproof enough for me...
Arundati - yes, I think mint is indeed the mst forgiving plant:)
Anuzi, Mike - join the fan club..I'm thinking of getting one too:)
SMN - I've added 2 links in the post for more informtion..as for buying it, I've looked at amazon, but their site also offers direct buying, which has discounts in the starter seed kits, I believe...so check out all options.
I've been thinking about getting one of these for awhile but was unsure if it really worked. Sounds like it works great, may have to look into getting it. Thanks for the info!
THXS for the fantastic idea... super creative ideassss ... thxs dear
That's a pretty cool idea. It would be nice to be able to grow herbs easily myself.
ive been eyeing this for a loong time now..but still not sure whether its worth the money!!
Never heard of this before..probably it is not yet available and if so, no popular in India
I just love this idea, so perfect for growing herbs indoors!

This looks like a very good idea! I absolutely have no "green finger" and here the fresh herbs almost do not exist during winter... and when they do they are sooo expensive this would pay itself quickly!

Great post! I've got two of them myself, one is the deluxe model. I'm growing hot cherry peppers and Early Girl bush tomatoes right now and they're doing very well. I am really looking forward to having fresh herbs and veggies next winter!! For those interested, there is lots of great discussion and information at the www.aerogardengrowers.com community forum.
That's a very good idea.
I think adding some flowering plants in my kitchen and office could make my environment more relaxing.
It could somehow reduce my tirediness.
