Acai Berry - The healing power coming straight from the Amazon Rainforest
How important it is to include fruits as part of your healthy diet is a well-known fact, and for some time now, a tiny dark purple colored fruit smaller than a grape, is creating a havoc in the health industry. I came across Acai (pronounced as a-sigh-eee) in Jamba Juice and Juice Zone, where the Acai Smoothie caught my eye. What little I learned from the girl who made my smoothie intrigued me enough to find out more about this new player in the market. Acai is very perishable and spoils within about 24 hours of being picked from the Acai Palm tree. So you can't get fresh Acai unless you live in the middle of amazon forest (which I surely hope you don't, b'coz then you wouldn't be reading my blog!) But Acai pulp can be frozen and can also be dehydrated into a powder and freeze dried. This powder can then be put into capsules to make pure Acai supplements that maintain all the nutritional properties of fresh Acai - just in a concentrated form. so what exactly are these nutrients we are talking about??

Acai has a lkot of benefits and the smoothie loos delicious. I just finished a big glass of carrot juice. The bright orange color was vibrant and busting with life.
At first glance I thought these Acai berries were those berries we call Jambhul in marathi. But on detailed reading I realised its quite something else. And yes I did take a look at your Poha and Sabudana Wada. Two great all-time favourites aren't they?

I have just started to use this Acai berry actually, and already see some changes ( well at least I think) as somehow my body seems to work like ''better'' , If I will be able to lose 20pounds with this till summer that would be AWESOME!

The ideal way to consume Acai Berry is to pick them up from the trees, wash them and eat them. But these Acai Berries are extremely perishable. They have to be eaten immediately before they spoil. They can not be packaged fresh and then shipped to grocery stores around the world.
Acai berries are a great source of antioxidents, i'm a fan of the acai powders you can get. I've recently tried Maqui berries as well which are supposed to be even better antioxidents!
